We use this a lot. We use it to sprout wheat and to dry fruit (fruit leather or just dried apricots, apples, etc) and vegetables. Last year we dried some peppers and we are still enjoying them.

We have had our dryer for about 8-10 years.

I AM THE INVENTOR/DESIGNER and the buck stops with me. ANY AND ALL PROBLEMS OR REPLACEMENTS WILL COME THROUGH ME. PLEASE CONTACT ME PERSONALLY 801 652-5577, personal Email: derickson1@allwest.net, mail: PO Box 2345, Evanston,WY 82931 USA .

An error of the support ribbon was discovered. Support straps used to hang the trays, previously were made of a much more substantial material. However, the former maker passed away and a new maker established. The new maker used a softer strap, which can pull through the plastic support prongs. We are in contact with the maker, and most likely will replace free new more substantial straps, but in the mean time, a customer has come up with a suggestion that seems to work for her. While the Food PANtrie is hanging with all loops properly attached, remove the trays, reach in with a small tube of airplane type glue and place a spot of glue on the loops. Not necessarily to glue the loops to the plastic, but to make the ribbon more ridged in order to not pull through the prongs.
Please stay in touch so I can make everything right for you. I designed the Food PANtrie to last, with every part replaceable if need be.
Thanks, Respectfully, Duane

3 out of 5 stars I like it, but....   October 8, 2009

The dryer does a great job of drying while keeping bugs etc. away from your food. I plan actually to buy another one of these.

HOWEVER, the supports that hold the trays can (and do) easily slide out of the support straps in the process of moving it around. Meaning the whole thing can easily basically come undone and then you have to put it back together again. Until you get the hang of it, it takes FOREVER to slide the loops back on and put the thing back together. After fiddling with it for over an hour, I can now reassemble it without too much time, but when this first happens you want to fling the whole thing into space.

If it weren't for the fact that this device easily disassembles itself, I would say it's perfect. It does just what I need it to do (for a reasonable price). With some practice you can learn to handle it so that it doesn't come undone too often and put it back together quickly if it does. If there were a better-made, similar item I would buy it, but I haven't been able to find anything that does the same thing at a reasonable price.

Food Pantry Hanging Dehydrator / Dryer - Five Tray Non Electric Fruit, Vegetable, Jerky Dehydration - Food Pantrie

Poorly constructed... zipper is of very poor quality.. and to my dismay ... the hanging frame inside the netting is hung on flimsy tabs that "let go" at the slightest movement..(there are about 25 plus tabs) > 1____ _____1 > the material loop is suppose to stay put between these tabs... only to find out that when I tried to fix one others came loose.. apart.. thus all dried herbs came crashing down....... dumb design!
For the price...... two window screens would do a much better job plus.. you would have much more control..!!!
